My first 92 miles on 2006 HCH
I just got my new HCH and have interesting experience to share with you.
1. For my first 92 miles (drive upto SF to get FastTrak) at 3PM yielded 51.7 MPG, averaging 65MPH for about 80 miles and City stop and go for 12 or so.
2. Apparently, there are HCH to be had on the lot at San Jose Honda dealers.
One dealer was asking $4995 over sticker, I was able to negotiate down to $500 over sticker. But I got it for MSRP $22400 at Anderson Honda in Palo Alto.
Thanks for all the great info!

Re: My first 92 miles on 2006 HCH
Congrats! Was that going up 101, and did you use cruise control? That was one of my very first trips too (Moffett Field up 101 to the FasTrack office in SF), and I got about the same mileage you did.
I'll bet that $5k-over dealer was Stevens Creek Honda? They were the worst offender in the entire bay area when I got my quotes. I'm glad to hear that you got it for MSRP.

Yup, from Shoreline Amphiteater to SF and back.
Speed was from 45 - 75MPH, commute was just starting.
Evening commute home on 85 to Los Gatos, 15 Miles @ 45minutes in stop and go, my mileage is down to 47MPG.
As far as dealer in San Jose, I'd rather not name them since I will be filing some complaints to BBB and possibly to DA. Here is what they did:
1. I told them I had a car waiting at another dealership at MSRP. They told me they could beat the price.
2. When I left because price was too high, (and when I was there negotiating, I told them the dealer's name - big mistake). They called first dealer and told them I had already bought the car so please cancel my order. Mind you, this is AFTER I left the dealership. They had counted on me returning and paying much more when I did not have a car at a first dealership.
Plus, they ran my credit report without giving me my privacy notice. I believe this may be against Federal Credit related laws.
Anyway, avoid Honda dealer in San Jose or at least be very careful.

Wow, what *******s. I never gave away the names of any other dealer I was considering, or the exact city they were in, but I thought I was being overly paranoid. I guess not! Dealers can be such scum.
Anyway it's a good thing you didn't buy from them, and regardless it's good you refused even $500 markup. I had alot of trouble finding someone selling for MSRP when I was trying to find someone to buy from a couple of weeks ago (though I did succeed) because all the dealers claimed it was in extremely high demand... yet now, in the same month the cars were first released, I hear many reports of cars available on the lots.
I hate to see what the Si frenzy will be like.
