The 2006 Civic Hybrid, like the Prius, only has CVT -- no manual transmission. I know a manual transmission would be literally impossible in the Prius since the motors don't use a regular transmission, but it does surprise me that the new HCH is also CVT-only since I'd have thought the IMA, integrated with the engine, would work just fine with a manual transmission.

I think the Europe model is supposed to have a 6-speed manual, although that may not be correct, I think it's quite likely they removed the manual from the US lineup to simplify the options, it does seem kind of strange.

I checked out a 2006 LX today and the window sticker said the final assembly took place in Japan and the port of entry was Portland, OR and distribution went though Shaumburg, IL.

FWIW back when I bought a 2002 Civic EX we walked around the lot to find one with a VIN starting with J.
I think the majority of non-hybrid Civics sold in US are made in US, but not all.

This was in California so it may have been easier to find a J here.

I'm pretty sure that I read where the 06 HCH were being all made in Japan and the other Honda Civic models were made in the USA.

Terry

BTW; now that I think back about the article it said all Hybrids (Hondas) were being produced in Japan.
