Legally, the 2006 Civic is US-made

Re: Legally, the 2006 Civic is US-made
The 2006 Civic Hybrid, like the Prius, only has CVT -- no manual transmission. I know a manual transmission would be literally impossible in the Prius since the motors don't use a regular transmission, but it does surprise me that the new HCH is also CVT-only since I'd have thought the IMA, integrated with the engine, would work just fine with a manual transmission.

I think the Europe model is supposed to have a 6-speed manual, although that may not be correct, I think it's quite likely they removed the manual from the US lineup to simplify the options, it does seem kind of strange.

FWIW back when I bought a 2002 Civic EX we walked around the lot to find one with a VIN starting with J.
I think the majority of non-hybrid Civics sold in US are made in US, but not all.
This was in California so it may have been easier to find a J here.

BTW; now that I think back about the article it said all Hybrids (Hondas) were being produced in Japan.
