Default Idle problem with 2006 civic hybrid

I just bought a 2006 civic hybrid and at stop lights, well really any time i come to a complete stop the rpm goes down to about 500 and it feels like it's about to turn off but it doesn't. Then the rpm shoots up to 1000 then back down to 500. The car starts shaking then levels out. What could be wrong??

Has the ICE warmed to the operating temperature? H

I believe so. It happens everytime the car stops. It shakes pretty bad.

Someone else was having this same issue about a month ago. Check back on some of the past threads. H

I think this is the thread Harold is thinking of:

https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...p-issue-23774/

Maybe some of the ideas suggested in there might help.

Rough idle could also be a sign of something grossly out of tune, or a neglected maintenance item: something like clogged air filter, fouled sparkplugs, or a vacuum leak, valve lash off, and on-and-on. I think you need to get it professionally trouble-shot.
