I am in OR and I picked up my Honda civic hybrid '06 for around $21K including destination. I am deciding between warranties...GE or Honda care. ANy inputs?

 

I'm from The Netherlands and paid € 24.500 without options and in total € 27.500,-- You read it correctly the prices are in EURO's! So thats around 34.650,-- US!!

Gotta love taxes

Make sure that GE covers the battery. When I bought my '04 HCH I was told the extended warranty covered the battery but I found out later (by accident and thank goodness not necessity) that it did not. Do not take their word for it, see it in writing!!

ugh I feel kinda bad now....I got my HCH2 this past Jan 2006, I paid 32,000 give or take some change, I live in Manitoba, Canada, anyways my car came with all the perks & basics of the hch2 hybrids along with a 7 year warranty, some added perks like rust protection, interior protection, floor mats, compass/night mirror, dark gray tint (35% in front 50% in rear). The car itself is pretty good and loaded with lots of features all hch2 owners are accustomed too, minus leather interior, fancy aftermarket stereo, moonroof. But aside from lacking those extra features I still love my car, and truly mileage is no worry now,considering I use to drive a 2003 Blazer and trust me after driving that beast everyday on the highway spending literally 20 - 40 dollars a day on fuel, I gotta say I'm so friggin happy with my civic, I paid a high premium compared to most but I'm not complaining when I think of the money I'm saving on fuel now compared to my blazer.

 

2006 White HCH-II w/Navi. Was haggled to death over the price, but held firm the promise of the sales manager's offer over the phone...$24,500 out-the-door. Basically $23,500 before tax, title, registration and "other fees". So, $745 under MSRP (should be expected at the end of the model year?). Pick the car up tomorrow, very happy!

 

I saw on ebay there was a new 2006 white HCHII that was won for $20,900. That person got a really good deal. So, that is $1,800 off MSRP. With it being the end of 2006 and 2007 models are rolling onto the lot there is some room for saving...well, just depends on where you are at.

Believe it or not, we got an out the door price of $22916 on a magnetic pearl 2007 HCH. That was with dealer-installed XM. This was in AL.

I do have to say, it was an unusual situation, as we had originally decided to get a Fit, and ordered it through the dealer. There was a big screw-up in getting the Fit, and when it did arrive, it was the wrong car (wrong color and transmission!). Needless to say, we were annoyed. In order to keep us happy, the dealer and I came up with the hybrid solution as above.

Since it was such a weird situation, I don't really feel comfortable mentioning who the dealer was, but I was obviously very happy with our final outcome.
