Default Hi Newbie here and I had a tranny problem

Hi I just bought a 2003 civic hybrid. I bought it for what i think was a cheap price $ 5,000. It was a 1 owner car Adult owned and real clean in and out. with 69,000 miles the problem was thought to be a tranny problem. Bucking, jerking. I figured replacing the tranny since my best friend runs a tranny shop another $2500 he would not dare charge me labor as long as i helped. So the total price would be $7,500 and i would have a great car. well after lurking around some forums some people had the same problem and replaced the EGR and the problem was fixed. so the cheaper try would to replace the EGR and see what happened, the worse thing i'd have a new EGR about $200 and still replace the tranny. Well i replaced the EGR and that did it no more jerking or bucking runs like a dream. So what i am getting at is if you have similar problem with your car maybe this will work for you.

Gazoo. If it happens again clean it with a cleaner before you buy a new one! Works most of the time. If your CVT oil has never been changed, I would do it soon. By the way that was a good purchase! H

Hello Walter. If you have the CVT [continous verible trans.] I would use what Honda recommends. For the engine 0-20 wt.. I use Honda brand, but in the US Mobile 1. 0-20 is available. I have yet to find it in 0-20 here in Canada. It depends on who sevices your car. I take mine too Honda, that way they can do the up-dates on the PC's. Cheers ,H
