Default Help making decision 2006 vs 2007

Well I have been crunching numbers and have decided to purchase a used HCH II. There are many for sale in my area, 3 2006, and 3 2007 right now.
I can save about $2k buying an 06 with about 60k kms over an 07 with about 30k kms

I read somewhere that they changed programming in 2007 to allow the vehicle to run a bit longer on battery only.....is this true? If so it may influence my decision to pay a bit more for a used 07.

Thanks guys! Hopefully will be in one in about a week!

Yes, there was a silent software update released towards the end of 2006 that targeted many 2006 models and brought them inline with the 2007 models' programming.
The update simply changed the assist affinity in order to make it slightly more aggressive. Frankly, that update actually made it harder for many of us who want to stay out of electric assist. Using more battery power is contrary to good fuel economy in any hybrid.

Anyhow, if those 2006's been updated then you'll see absolutely no difference between them and the newer 2007's in that department.

Cheers;

So you can get a car with half as many km for an additional $2,000? Those 30,000 km would then cost you about seven cents each then. It sounds like the '07 would be a better deal, assuming that extra $2,000 doesn't put you over your budget. To know if it really is a better deal, I would need to know the asking price of each car and your estimate of how many total miles you plan to put on it before selling.

Fewer auto lock options on the 2006.

I personally like buying used cars in the best shape with the least miles possible... I'd vote for the 07 if your budget allows. Assuming both are in perfect condition, you still have less engine wear, better resale, etc
