Doesn't Colorado have special incentives for buying a hybrid? You might want to make sure they didn't write the law such that you can only take advantage of the incentives if you make the purchase in-state.

Very good point! I ought to check into that. Colorado's tax CREDIT is around $2300. Hate to miss out on that for $1500...

Thanks...

Henpecked??? Not in the least. I always have the last words...Yes Dear.

No...Most of that is in good fun. She doesn't want to go, but I mentioned that I could probably get one of my friends to go and she didn't mind that. It's just more difficult taking four kids on a 11 hour drive (each way) to buy a car that I can get about ten minutes away. Opportunity Costs (for those that studied Economics).

Anyway, I just checked the Colorado Department of Revenue. Here's what it says.

"Colorado income tax credits are available for the purchase of an alternative fuel vehicle, for a motor vehicle that is converted to use alternative fuel, or for the replacement of the power source with a power source that uses alternative fuel. To qualify, the vehicle must be titled and registered in Colorado. (§39-22-516 C.R.S.) "
Looks like I'd still be okay.

I followed the link to the Bartlesville dealer's site last Fri. Submitted a quote request for a light-colored '06 HCH without nav. Still haven't received a reply. Maybe I'll try again after the Thanksgiving holiday is over with.

My wife wants the car in Jan. or Feb. The place where I got my '05 HCH in March is offering MSRP. But if that Okla. dealer can save us >$1000 it would be worth it to fly from MCO to TUL (fare as low as ~$100 on SW Airlines) and drive the car back here (2-day trip).

Im sure its a oversight on there part. They get shoped from all over the country. I know Adrian cant keep up with all the request for quote. Alot of people get a number from them to beat on other dealers with to get a better price. Know a guy that did this. Had been working with a OKC dealer on a Accord. B'ville dealer beat the price buy $600 right off the bat. Person took that number to OKC dealer and purchasing car there. Call them on there 1-800 number. They arent thugs. Get your number then have Adrian e-mail it to you for your records. He will tell you what they have coming in, what has deposits on them. There a very small dealer as dealers go. Its small town Oklahoma, nobody gets in a hurry. Adrian told me last week a Houston dealer contacted him looking for HCH's was willing to pay dealers 2k above MSRP. So you know those cars would be selling for 4k to 6k above MSRP.

I just received a price quote from David McDavid Honda In Frisco, Tx. They seem mighty proud of their cars:

The price for the 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid with Navigation $25,900.00 including detination and handling fee of $550. Tax, title and license and any dealer accessories not included.

I told them to take a hike and here is their reply:

My price is based on a $2,000 market adjustment over the sticker price on the vehicle. The Toyota Prius has a 5 month waiting list and most Toyota dealers are charging upwards of $5,000 over sticker. The one Hybrid we have received that was presold was my customer. She did a lot of research, is part of a web discussion group of Civic Hybrid devotees and found that our $2,000 premium was less than is to be found in many other parts of the country.

I understand not wanting to pay that kind of premium. However because of the demand for this vehicle, it is where the market stands right now. If in six months we end up with Hybrids sitting on the lot, then of course we will adjust for that and sell them for what the market will bear. I do not know of any of the dealers in this part of the country who are selling them any less.

Anyone know of better prices in North Texas, or is OK my best bet?

That's interesting - McDavid Honda here in Houston is quoting me MSRP. I guess each dealership gets to set their own price.
