HCH Modifications
#1
I started this thread to find out what modifications are being done on the HCH.
The only thing I've done is to get the car up off of it's "flat" tires.
Honda's door sticker suggests 30 F/R.
This is like trying to ride a bicicle on a soft sandy beach. Boardwalk is much easier!
The sidewall on my Dunlops are rated at 51PSI and that's where I keep them.
While the safety margin is reduced due to less patch, my slower speeds are an offset. My driving style rarely exceeds 62MPH.
To be sure I did a test in a mall parking lot in the pouring rain @ 50MPH:
40PSI VS 51PSI and stopping difference between the two figures were only a few feet.
Did not notice any difference in a swerve/skid test, although this is harder to measure.
The difference in mileage gained from 30PSI to 51PSI is about 20MPG.
If you should decide to try this be aware that the car will ride alot stiffer (But better handling) and will not stop as fast. At 6K miles I haven't noticed any unusual tire wear. In my case the dealer tossed new tires for life.
Your tires might be rated differently.
What mods have you done to YOUR HCH?

For the last 20 years or so I've ran ALL my vehicles tires up to the sidewall
cold PSI limit. I forgot the brand our Grand Caravan uses, basically a truck
tire rated at 44PSI MAX COLD. All are inflated to 44.
