gas gauge in 2005 civic hybrid, any way to recalibrate it?
my gas gauge in 2005 civic hybrid seems to be about 2 bars off, even when full. any way to recalibrate it? Kind of a bummer when I get the gas nag light with 5 gallons left in the tank
The sender might not have been secured properly during the vehicle build and is at an angle. My roommate's Nissan Z had this same problem. The gauge would go from full to empty in only using the first 5 gallons of gas or something. He had the dealer fix the sender unit in the gas tank and then it was back to normal.
This COULD have happened, but just a guess. One of my older cars guage was OK, but I filled it up one time as fast as I could. The pump really poured it in the tank. After that the guage was off a good bit. I suspect that the force from the gas bent the float mechinism. Dont know if this is possible today, but I would advise not floorboarding the gas pump nozzle when filling up.
Nah, it was like that since my first tank. I was hoping I could skip the dealer, and was really hoping it could be digitally calibrated (I hate the honda dealer in the area, and they are the repair point)
I had the same Problem with my 2003 HCH, or I thought that it was a problem. When I took it in to the dealer for service, they told me it was the way I was fueling the car, I use to pull into the gas station and the car would go into auto stop mode, I did not turn the ignition key the off position, the bars on the fuel guage would move up at a rate of one per minute, so it would take a while before I saw all of the bars on the fuel gauge, any way this was causing the same problem you described. Once I started filling up with the ignition switch in the off position, the fuel gauge started working properly. Hope this helps.

I have a problem with my gas gauge. When i'm down to 4 bars left on the gas gauge it jumps to down 1 bar sometimes after driving only a couple miles not on slope. Then 10-20 minutes later it will go up back to 3-4 bars. Then jumps all over the place from 0-4 bars. With estimated 1.5-2 gallons left in the tank. Has anyone else experienced this problem? This has happen in the last 3 tanks of gas.
