i am in minnesota, and in the past two weeks we have had some colder than usual (for this winter) weather, including a few days very far below zero. though my mileage is somewhat down, i am still averaging just over 50mpg overall. i have a 2005 HCH, and am very pleased with that.

"Normal" Denver winter - Low: Mid 20s High: Upper 40s, Lower 50s - Averaging 44 MPG over three tanks.

Recent Cold Spell - Low: Sub-Zero, as low as -15 High: Sub-Freezing, usually in the low to mid 20s - Averaged 39.75 MPG over one tank.

All temps in Fahrenheit. I do my best to keep the mileage up, but definitely don't baby the car. I typically do 5-8 MPH over the limit and accelerate quickly to get on the highway.

Camelfilters,

I live near Buffalo, NY. I find on work commute (6.5 mi), and around town (teens and 20's lately ) I get around 40 mpg. Recently I drove to Erie, PA about 50 miles. I reset the Trip A Odometer after the car warmed up, and got 61 mpg at night in 20 F. I used the cruise set at 55mph on the interstate. Soo... the warm up factor and the weather really are an influence on the mpg. I do try to drive carefully.

Good luck,

Don,
I lived in Cheektowaga, NY (just east of Buffalo) for a year, back in '85 (yes, I survived the blizzard of '85). Other than the extreme cold, I really enjoyed the area.

Steve,
I like the area, but wish I had a better solution to improve mileage. I've thought about a tarp with a few light bulbs under the car (some fantasy huh?), a block heater, and I know a garage would help! I envy your weather.
Regards,

Good luck,
The last tank for me had the highs in the upper 50s to mid 70s. Lows in the 30s. 433 Miles, 9.06 Gallons = 47.8 MPG. Best tank yet. Total miles on the car is now about 2700 Miles.

Comparison of the other cars if driven 2700 Miles:
Civic: ~61 Gallons
Odyssey: ~135 Gallons - $303.75 savings @ $2.25/gallon
Suburban: ~193 Gallons - $432 savings @ $2.25/gallon

Big savings for 4 weeks and two days.
