I have a 05HCH I have had for about 600 miles. When I shut the car off the cooling fan under the hood starts and keeps running for several minutes. The weather is not even hot, and I am not using the A/C. Any/everbody experiance this?

Totally normal fan operation. But, If you ever do any work under the hood near the fan assembly, always make sure you disconnect the power from the fan or it may start up unexpectedly....and never stick your hands near the fan at any time when it's not running.

Yes totally normal.
Part of the design.

We just get used to it.

 

Also, if you're in Autostop for a prolonged amount of time (>2 or so min), the fan will activate just like you've shut off the car.

 

haven't had the fan come on at autostop yet... i'm glad it hasn't. i'm waiting for some pedestrian to freak out and tell me my car isn't on. i have, however, had my stepdad jokingly tell me my car is still on when i've parked and the fan comes on.

My neighbor came to my door one night to tell me my car was still running..lol

 

this happens to my HCH as it does to all HCH and I understand that its normal but I wonder why it happens.

 

I wonder if it happens when the water stops circulating, and the hot water rises to the sensor that turns on the fan. Or if it is programmed to run at a lower temp. when shut off to stop from overheating engine compartment?
Is it all civics or just HCH?
