I actually heard it tonight in my car too. It happens around 20 when coming from a full stop, and when coming to a full stop with moderate brake pressure. Its weird, and it is a whirring sound, best description of it.

We noticed it back in January. It tends to make the "buzz/whirr" during moderate braking. Just wait until you have to do a hard brake.. Doesn't sound good. Anyone else think their car sounds like it's hitting the ground in front after a sharp brake?

I do hear a sound in my 06, but it is very faint.
If windows were open or the radio was on I'd never hear it.
It is when I am driving slowly and it sound like it is coming form the left side of the dash.

I'll have to notice when it happens.

I too wouldn't hear it with the radio on or windows down, but I'm just really curious as to what it's for.

I hear it too. It's quite soft, as it's only audible with the audio system off and the window closed.

Exactly. I'm just curious as to what it is. I know nothing is wrong with the car, but it sounds like something is moving, opening, or closing. I wonder what it is. Sounds futuristic though....

yes, it may be a certain turation for the servo brake pump.

you want to reproduce? it's easy... drive at 25mph then brake very gently then let it go a bit 3-4 seconds then brake gently to a complete stop. when the car is close to the complete stop, you'll hear it.... whrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr for a 3-4 seconds until the car momentum is lost.

I was contemplating taking my car into the dealer because of this same noise. I've had passengers comment on it. At least for me, the noise is more pronounced when the battery is too cold for the regenerative braking to kick in.

Any further information?
