Default Difficult to view Steering Wheel at Night

First let me say that I am loving my new HCH II that I received in a couple weeks ago as such this is my first post. First tank I averaged 48mpg. Now that I have had a few weeks to experiment I am at 54.2 mpg about 380 miles into my second tank. Not bad for being a newbie to the hybrid world. I am in Phoenix so the weather is a plus.

One question, are other drivers having difficulty viewing the cruise/radio buttons during night driving. I would have thought the visibility would have been dependant on the dash lighting adjustment but it seems to stay at the same intensity no matter which setting.

Any help will be appreciated.

In my old '95 Civic the cruise buttons weren't lit (are the the one in the '06? I don't remember if they are in my '05...) so I could never see them at night... I had to memorize which button was which, or guess.

Not a very helpful reply, hu? Sorry.

The intensity doesn't change, so we just have to live with it. Count your blessings. I had an '05 Civic and none of the steering controls were lighted. You'll remember where they are in time.

The CC buttons on the '05 aren't lit at all. I've learned to use them by touch alone at night. The buttons on the '06 are similar enough that I'm able to do the same thing.

You'll notice that each button on each side of the steering wheel has a different feel. This is on purpose because you're not supposed to take your eyes off the road anyway. Or you can remember the button positions:

Left Side:
Channel +/- | Volumne +/- | Mode

Right Side:
Cruise Main | Set/Decel Resume/Accel | Cruise Cancel
