Deer 1 - HCH 0
Yes, it is just about deer season here.... and this morning I hit a good size buck with the HCH crusing at 55 mph.
He was airborne when I hit him, so he hit the hood, windshield and his rack came through (breaking) the driver's window. (some other damage from the impact too)
Engine light came on so I had the car towed to the body shop.
Guess I will see how much insurance is, but I was impressed how well the HCH took the hit.
The deer walked away from this. He was about 200 yards out when I got out the car just looking at me the like "What the.."
I ended up with 3 points of his rack left in my lap and another in the drivers door "pocket", so I have a souvenir!

Wow, glad u r o k. The deer walked away? That's one tough buck! I bet he's thankful he got hit by a hybrid, anyone else probably would of been going faster.
My HCH just took a hit from a Kia on the rear bumper, barely any damage. I was going to get some other scratches fixed soon anyway so hopefully the body shop will cut me a deal so not as much comes out of pocket since they have to mix up some paint anyway.
Neat pic for such a sad story. So far it seems like the magnesium HCH's have the most damage pics here on the site.

OMG; thats what comes to my lips immediately after seeing that pic of HCH. It sounds like you came out of it OK. Maybe it's a good time to look at the 06 HCH now that INS. Monies are involved. Good-Luck; and take care.

Re: Deer 1 - HCH 0
the real question is how much blood in on the interior and how much, if any, is yours.
I've seen a full size truck after it hit a bull at 60MPH (the bull was standing on the on-ramp). There was both driver's blood and bull blood all over the inside.
You look like you faired much better with a much smaller "target"
Where are the pictures of the "rack" would like to see how it broke off

This is going to be an ordeal.
Be sure to check out the autostop after the car is out of the body shop. A couple of years ago, I had similar damage, and the wiring was not done right.

No blood from the deer...
All the blood from me was contained.. (from the glass pelting my face)
Thanks for the tip of checking auto-stop. I had the car taken to the body shop the dealship uses (on premise of the dealership). I also informed them and the dealer of the engine light being on.
Body shop said it would be 3 to 4 weeks before it is completed. So now I am stuck driving the 14MPG Yukon or 20MPG GTO... and I drive about 140 miles a day... (ouch! $$$)
