Default Civic 08 Hybrid replacement IMA

I have a 08 civic hybrid that the IMA light is on and we took the car to the only non-dealer shop that works on these in cincy and the price is $3150 for the replacement. Well on a car that has 185k on it that's not a possibility and I have found a few places that will sell me a new battery but I am looking to get some suggestions on what to look for, what to look out for and maybe some places that will sell me the IMA battery.

THanks

Generally, it doesn't matter that it doesn't have an alternator. It has a DC-DC converter that charges the 12V from the HV system.

1) "new battery" = 12V battery or IMA battery?
2) "battery indicator" = red light picture of 12V battery?
3) does the IMA light come on when you turn the key to the ON position?
4) does the check engine light come on when you turn the key to the ON position?
5) does the car start off the IMA battery with a smooth startup, or does it "crank" like a regular car?
6) With the car at idle, what is the voltage at the 12V battery?

1...new 12V battery
2...battery indicator red light on dash
3... no IMA light when you drive the the car only battery red light
4.. no engine light
5... I can't differentiate
6...test battery while idle it's 11.7v steering was hard abs light came on and shot off after 5 mints

1) You need to manually charge your 12V every night. Failure to do so will ruin the 12V. You have limited range. If you're certain that your 12V is fully charged, limit driving to 30 miles, and use no electricity (no radio, heater, etc.).

3 & 4) Please answer the questions. Do the IMA and CEL come on when you turn the key on PRIOR to starting the car. Those bulbs can burn out. If you don't see those lights on at key on, you may have problems and don't know it.

5) It's very simple. Does the engine start smoothly with ZERO sensation of "cranking", or does it "crank" start like a non-hybrid.
