Can anyone help?! My 05 Civic hybrid is having problems!
I have a 2005 automatic Honda Hybrid with 70,000 miles on it. My car is vibrating and making a clunk sound when I either first put it into drive and if I slow down to take a corner and step on the gas it gets worse. I have a mechanic friend who is not authorized to work on hybrids, but he took the time to test drive it and he seems to think it is a drivetrain or transmission problem. He seemed to think that you could feel it in reverse and higher speeds as well although I never felt it. I was wondering if anyone knew if it could be anything else or had the same problem and could give me more information or advise.
I doubt that the symptoms you mention could be caused by any hybrid specific parts. Sounds like possibly U-joints or CV-joints to me.
Any mechanic that works on drivelines should be able to work on your car. You shouldn't need a special "hybrid mechanic".
Of course I'm not an auto mechanic so my guess is just that, a guess.

Has the CVT transmission ever been serviced. Sounds like it needs fresh CVT oil and possible burnish? They drain fluid three times when burnish is required. Go to a Honda dealer
