Don't expect that to change anytime soon. You could be going 90 miles an hour, and someone'll get close enough to your tail to read the airbag warning if you have your visors down.

Reason: Californians.

Hmmm, I mailed my application on December 30 and the check still didn't clear! Is there a way to find out if they received it? I am worried now!

I sent mine out around the same time and spoke with the ARB. They said that the only way to see if they've received it was if the check cleared. But if you haven't received it within four weeks, to resubmit the app. I've been getting the runaround as to who handles the decals. The ARB says its the DMV, the DMV says its the ARB!

Maybe two things have to happen before they deposit your check.
1. They get your check.
2. They get the registration papers from your dealer.

You dealer may not have sent in the DMV paperwork as fast as mine did.

I can't imagine they would cash the $8 check from any bozo *without* a hybrid.
They have to be sure there really is a qualifying hybrid vehicle going to that person.

I'm just guessing.

Thank you. Just found my Certified Mail receipt and the status on usps site shows as Delivered on January 3. I already had the lisence plate number when I submitted the application. I guess that I will just wait and hope it will clear soon and I get my stickers! Can't wait to use them on my 60 miles daily commute!

January 3rd mailed the app via regular post. January 19th the check was posted at the bank. Therefore, according to this pattern and others that have posted, I will receive the stickers between Jan. 26th and Feb. 3rd. Time between check cashing and receipt of stickers seems to be between 1-2 weeks.

Typical timeline:

2-3 weeks to process application indicated by cashing of check
1-2 weeks to generate and mailout stickers

Total time range of 3-5 weeks generally speaking from receipt of app.

The previous story about DMV promoting 2-3 months is about expectation management so that they are not bothered with phone calls about where are my stickers. It is what I would do

Jesse
I can finally put an end to this story. My stickers arrived today (Jan. 25th) so that means from mailing of application (regular post) to receipt is just one day over three weeks, six calendar days from when the check was posted. Number is 46035.

I wonder if anything can be inferred from the shortening cycle in processing time? More staff?(unlikely) Less requests? Efficiency? (even more unlikely)

If anyone does not receive it by the end of four weeks, I would call to check up on it. If nagging is your specialty, call at the end of two weeks.

Coincidentally, the DMV filled in my license plate number though it was blank on my app. I don't even have my license plates yet so they must do some type of lookup based on the VIN and then plug it in.
