I first noticed gas mileage dropping. Then decided to take it on a longer drive (a little over 100 miles) and had check engine codes come up for misfires along with many of the symptoms of misfires. We changed out spark plugs with some from O’Reillys hoping that would solve the problem. Check engine code is off, but I’m still having trouble accelerating. I went up to 4,500 RPM to get up to 45 mph on a level road. It seems that the hybrid battery isn’t keeping much of a charge and can hardly give me any assist when accelerating. I did once get the charge to over 50% and made a stop. When I got back in the car, it was back down to 1-2 bars.

I know it’s about time for this battery to be bad, but I’m wondering if my problems could be related to our spark plug change since we didn’t use OEM parts?

 

Did you buy the $14 Iridium plugs and replace all 8 of them?
