Remember that it is still subject to AMT... and will phase out if you earn too much money

This looks awfully confusing with all the forms that we will need in addition to the 1040. I hope that TurboTax will have this firgured out...

That's why I pay a professional to handle my taxes. He finds money legally that no program ever did!

Actually,

Turbotax actually does have provision to handle the hybrid tax deduction for last year, so it should up to speed for 2006. You will need the need the Deluxe version.

All the versions are the same in this respect. All the Deluxe version really gets you is a free copy of your state income tax software.

Actually the Deluxe includes a software package called It's Deductible!" that the base one doesnt contain. I found it quite useful federal in tax prep, but as far as the hybrid tax deduction for 2005, you are correct. The differences are more than just a state income tax add on .

I would do that but I have nothing else exciting in my life. I own nothing, live in an apt and until I got my '04 HCH, had only ever filed the EZ forms. Just not worth the $$ in my case.
