Default 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid Auto Stop Issues

Hi Bought the hybrid used in April 2008, no issues then. Got 51.2 MPG by the way driving the car back from Tampa to Delaware back then. My wife averages about 38 MPG around town, I can get 42 or so easily in town and high 40s on the road. Last week the auto stop just stopped working all together. Took it in for normal service, battery was weak (one under the hood) and was replaced under warranty. auto stop still not functioning and have it scheduled to go in tomorrow. Anyone have any ideas I can pass on to the service tech? I asked the Honda place this morning and they said they really havent seen too many with any auto stop issues.

Thanks!

You might want to check this. The Autostop won't work when the defrost is on. This is obvious. But the Autostop will also not work if the air vent mode is set at the one that gives air to the windshield and your feet.

So check the mode button to see if it's blowing air on the windshield. (I think this is an obvious bug in the software that should have been fixed ages ago.)

Sounds like the defrost is on. Turn your climate control to the Auto setting and set temp to your liking and it may correct your problem? H

OK, Here is what works.

Put the AC in the Auto mode or the off position and the auto stop function works great. guess thats the answer and is also per the owners manual on how it works. Problem is manual really doesnt spell out what settings prevent the autostop from working.

Thanks,

I found this thread this morning because the autostop function on my daughter's 2003 Civic Hybrid had stopped working. I tried all the climate control settings and still no autostop. I went to a dealer for an oil change and asked about the autostop problem; they didn't have any idea. They did happen to check the battery and found that it was putting out 170 CCA rather than the 340 that it should deliver. Winter is coming and the battery is almost 6 years old, so new battery installed; autostop starts working.

Having transmission in "S" also prevents autostop.

A lot of the parameters that prevent autostop relate to the car being in "weak" condition, ie: low battery state, high defog demand, etc.
