I'm reading this as the 2006 hch will have a 155HP combined hp ice+motor and will get about 50-55 mpg or so.

___I think you might be mixing up the 06 Civic EX’s HP with the 06 HCH’s. No one that I know has stated anything concrete about the actual FE of any of the upcoming Civic’s so we will have to wait and see but there is plenty of info on the non-hybrid 06 Civic’s possibly containing a brand new 1.8 SOHC with between 130 - 140 HP in the DX/LX (maybe?) and 155 HP in the EX (maybe?). The 06 Acura EL (very well equipped Civic EX) that will be available in Canada is supposedly going to receive the 155 + HP ICE as well. The Coup de Gras will be an Si version with a 200 HP screamer (2.0 L DOHC possibly?) although all of the above this is pure speculation, WAG’s, and some hints thrown in to confuse those of us that are truly interested in what Honda has up its sleeve … The 06 HCH is the Civic with the least amount of information being posted and discussed unfortunately

___I am sure the 06 Civic lineup will be impressive but after all is said and done, I would give my two front teeth for the 2.2 iCDTi in my Accord or an 06 Civic EX with all the Accord EX-L w/ NAVI’s bells and whistles. The Europeans are supposed to receive the 06 Civic with a 2.2 option from my understanding? The emissions will be terrible compared to the gassers we have available in NA of course but the FE will be astounding if they gear them properly.

What makes you think the next civic hybrid won't have the ex engine? Or better yet allow for multiple ice choices?

I'm going with what I speculate. I have no concrete info on the next hch but If I were honda thats what I would do.

 

For FE sake, I hope that a 5-speed automatic makes it into the 06 Civic LX/EXs for those who won't buy a manual. If Honda can get the current gen Accord automatics at 34MPG EPA highway, I'm expecting 40MPG EPA highway for the 06 Civic LX. One can only imagine the MPG improvements to the 06 HCH - My money is on the low-mid 50s for the CVT equipped 06 HCHs. Emissions-wise, I'm expecting no less than PZEV/SULEV ratings for all 06 Civics, with the exception of the SI.

I wish someone from Honda would leak the darn Fuel economy numbers. Or at least a target!

 

I hope they do something w/ the emblem, the solid colored block just isnt doing it for me. anyone heard if a 5 door is planned?

 

I have not heard of a 5 door.
It is especially unlikely in hybrid form because the hybird battery lies betwen the back seat and the trunk.
