Hi Gargamel:

___Welcome to the Greenhybrid forum by the way …

___And on to maintaining 75 mph while climbing in the mountains. Do you know what that far right lane with the signs saying slow for trucks and 4% or more grade ahead is for? You know, the one you see the loaded 18-wheelers climbing at 25 mph or less? Relying on the IMA which has about enough assist for < 60 seconds of max capability for climbing is not only a poor habit to rely upon this early on in your Hybrid’s life but is a poor habit for any Hybrid. It is a self destructive technique and one I hope you will learn to dismiss before causing damage to your pack’s longevity. If you want too drive it like an EX, you should have purchased the EX. Packs aren’t cheap is about all I can add and there will be serious repercussions that you will find out about soon enough although hopefully it will not be too late for your HCH before you change your mountain driving and local hill climbing methods.

___In regards to the Insight being unattractive, there are less on the road then Ferrari’s. With that, they cause more stir at the gas pump then an HCH or std. Civic ever will. Personally, I think she is as beautiful as she is unique which says quite a bit in fact

___Good Luck

I did 17 000 km in 3 weeks once (my trip to Alaska).

That's 10 500 miles.

BTW, us diesel's don't have to downshift when going uphill.

We have something called TORQUE!

With north of 200 lb-ft in my Passat, no hill is too steep. B)
