So the cold snap hit 2 weeks ago, and my last 2 tanks have been wayyyyy off. To make matters worse I poured 1/4 tank of 100-day old (pre-Katrina!) gas in.

But after I cleared that out and temps came up a bit, mpg was still way down- then my mind also cleared...TIRES!

Yep, down to 34, from their usual 40-42. Given the capabilities of the vehicle, I sort of like the 'sportier' ride that way, too.

Anyways, after yelling at myself for failing to check for the last 2 fillups, I brought them back up, and today's drives were back to near-40mpg each way, from 36-37 last week, @ same ambient temp. Maybe not all due to tires, but certainly some. I won't see many 40ish segments until late March, but 39 will do for now.

And I should know better. Shame on me.

Moral: check yer **** tires every time you fillerup.
