Another oil question

Re: Another oil question
I'm tempted to use the 5W20 just for warranty reasons because that's what the service guide says.
I checked the 2 local dealers - both said "about $15" for the labor only oil change

Re: Another oil question
the owners manual says 5w20. Does the service manual actually say 0w20? I think Merlin's dealer service guy was just mistaken- used to dealing with HCHs.

Re: Another oil question
Did I buy the wrong oil?? I meant the "Honda Service History" booklet that came with the car said 0W-20. But upon reading through it again, it doesn't say the oil weight in it at all. Then I thought it might have said that in the manual (I don't have it here at work with me) but then you posted that it didn't. I wonder where I got that information from? Now, I'll have to go BACK to the Honda dealer and exchange the oil.

Re: Another oil question
Both my owners manual and oil cap say 5W20 - it was just the Honda service guy that initially said 0W20. When I actually had the oil (and filter) change done, the invoice said they put in 5W20, but maybe that's because I drew their attention to the discrepancy (between the Honda docs and what they told me).

Re: Another oil question
No problem. I got it swapped. Even got $12 back!
Took pics while I changed the oil today. I'll post up some pics and instructions for others that want to change their own oil but are unsure where everything is.
My Ford Escape also takes 5W-20. So the next time I change the oil, I'll be buying a case or two of the M1.

Re: Another oil question
IT really doesn't matter if you put 5W-20, 0W-20. It is better to use 5W30 to extend engine life. Here is an article from AmsOil. All you do is reduce your engine life by 30%. Honda makes $15 per vehicle on CAFE fines and more car sales since you fry your engine. No wonder why MB, AUDI, BMW and Porche recommends 5W40 or 0W-40 Check it out:
