Default Accord mpg display limited?

It seems the mpg display on Accord is limited to a maximum of 60 mpg. Yesterday I was coming back from the mountains. I was coming down from an altitude of 7600 feet to 5000 feet over a distance of 25 miles. I reset the trip meter before I started back. mpg started climbing quickly as I came down and reached 60 mpg by the time I had covered 8 miles. It then stayed at 60 mpg for the rest of the trip even though I am pretty sure actual mpg went well over 60. Display did not drop below 60 until I had drive some 6-7 miles in the city. So I am very sure actual mpg was higher and it just took some time for it to fall below 60 at which point display started being updated again.

It was rather amusing to see mpg display reading 60 mpg on an Accord after covering over 30 miles. Here is a picture:

I just double checked with wifey and she also agrees with me that our 05 hah tops out at 80 mpg.

We can be going down an incline and reset the 'B' odo and it pegs at 80 and stays there a bit til the road and speed conditions change.

I wonder why the differences.

My 2005 Honda Hybrid max MPG is 80 mpg. Several times inthe past few years I have made trips to Azriona and have "coasted" down several long grades (5-10 miles) each time the MPG would hit 80 and stay there. The last time was 3 weeks ago coming down Big Bear Mountain in California.

Wonder if each year has a different max mpg

I feel pretty sure my '05 maxes the mpg at 80. About a dozen down-the-mountain experiences confirm this.

I've had mine max out at 80 mpg, also.
