Default Weekends and Lowe's runs are bad for your FE

At the end of the day Friday, I was avg'ing 45mpg. After running errands Saturday, I was down to 42mpg. And after one trip to Lowe's to bring home 4 80lb bags of concrete & one 50lb bag of pea gravel, I was down to 39.7mpg!

Thank god after this morning's commute, I am back over 40.

BTW, what's the load capacity of the car again?

Thumbs up Re: Weekends and Lowe's runs are bad for your FE

I believe the load limit is 850 lbs. I was planning a trip to S. Carolina with 5 adults and luggage. We were about 50 lbs over the limit. No problems.

5 adults & luggage in a HCH for a 600+ mile trip. Ouch!

PLEASE TURN OFF CAPS AND BOLD-COLORED LETTERING ... it looks like you are yelling and is very distracting.

Yes, but think about that great momentum once you start going DOWN a mountain. Wow. That would really keep the speed going once reaching the bottom of the hill. =)

Hey Noflash - those are the trips you schedule AFTER you fill up with gas so that it does not affect your good FE of the current tank. Oops - did I give away one of my secrets? We're heading out of town for the weekend to about 250 miles away. I have about 100-150 miles left on this tank and I know my wife is going to make me fill up before we leave rather than halfway through the trip when I'm ready to fill. That will get my tank at 503 miles this time instead of over 600 miles and will hurt my miles/tank avg. Argh. However, Tuesday was 53 mpg but the Wednesday drive in the rain and some defrost resulted in 42 mpg for the day so the rain really hurt. Today was dry weather so the tank's FE is around 49 mpg so the one bad day pulled it down just like your errand day. We all have days like that though.

My FE is only back up to 41 on this tank. I wonder how much that ONE trip hurt my whole tank. Oh, well... I guess I can start over at any time.

I guess I need an electric truck.

Flash,

I intentionally use larger print, color and sometimes bold. I don't do this to annoy folks. I do it because I find it much easier to read and edit. I don't use all caps and I don't use the bright colors like red or royal blue. Some of us are getting older and find it hard to read fine print.
Keep in mind that some of the members do have good reasons for how we message!

Thanks,

Then why don't you just use your web browser to increase the text size of the entire page. This way the only post that you can read that stands out is yours and not anyone else's post. My parents use this tactic all the time and it works just fine and increases ALL items on the page - even the text on buttons. =)
