Default Under MSRP on 2008 HCHII?

Anyone able to get under MSRP on a 2008 HCHII lately?

I want the $1,050 tax incentive that runs out on June 30th and the 2.9 financing (already aproved) that expires on July 2nd, so I put down a deposit on a Magnetic Pearl/Blue with no Navi.
(Delivery in the next two weeks)

**EDITED TO ADD: Unlimited miles unlimited year powertrain warranty including the hybrid system is also included at no additional cost.

Can anyone tell me if this deal:
a) "THAT Sucks - you are getting gouged newbie"
b) "Ah - not bad, try and knock down the dealer fee"
c) "Looks great - I paid a $1,995 addendum on mine over MSRP"
d) "That car sucks - buy a Prius"

MSRP $23,235.00
Battery Fee $5.00
Waste Tire Fee $1.50
Dealer Service Fee $599.00
Total Taxable $23,840.50
County Tax $25.00
Sales Tax $1,430.43
Lemon Law Fee $2.00
Tag $150.00
Balance Due $25,447.93
Doc Stamps $101.79
Total Price $25,549.72

Your HONEST feedback sincerely appreciated.

Thanks everyone who takes the time to respond.

Jim

I did a look over the weekend, based on internet counts only, and found only two Civic Hybrids on the lot at Honda Dealers in Colorado, both in Pueblo. This is the count for new only.

Given gas is nearly $4 per gallon and the demand for fuel efficient vehicles, getting much, if any, under MSRP is not likely to happen. It's the simple law of supply and demand. Supply is short as capacity is behind demand.

I am glad I got mine in March 2007, and I am sure you will be glad you got yours today...or as soon as it is delivered.

I bought my 2008 HCHII w/ Nav for $500 over invoice.

And whats this "Dealer Service Fee $ 599.00". That sounds like complete BS. There's no reason to pay that.

Brian, I believe there is more demand for these cars now. The price of gas has come up since you purchased yours and there is a waiting list to butt. H

I bought a 2007 model, and its tough to compare apples to apples as yours has TPMS and no NAV. Mine is a 2007 (no TPMS) but w/NAV & 8yr/120k warranty, dealer fees, tax and GAP coverage: 26,635. The GAP was cancelled a few months later after some lump payments were made and my tax credit was 2,100, for a net total of $24,035 @ 7.4%.

I've since refinanced to 4.25% but can't get it any lower without joining the Navy . So yes you paid more but 1) I bought last Sept when 2007s were clearing out, 2) mine lacks TPMS and 3) you got a lower rate.

Thanks for the replies so far- any more opinions on looking for a break on the price - other than getting the "dealer service fee" waived on that puppy?

The dealer service fee is what they used to call "dealer prep" back in the day. It's a scam. But with gasoline at $4, they know they can get away with it.

When the HCH2 first came out back in 2006, gasoline hit $3 for the first time. People were in a frenzy to buy them. Dealers were adding $3000 or more to the MSRP, and people were lined up to pay it.

Then by early 2007, gas dropped back to $2. Suddenly, hybrids weren't so hot. Sales stalled, and dealer inventories grew. In Spring of '07, you could get one for well under sticker.

Here we are a year later, and everyone's in a frenzy again. So, if you want the HCH, you're gonna have to pay.

If I were you, I'd ask the dealer to waive the fee. He won't, of course. But at least you can say you tried ..... and at least you can tell everyone you didn't pay more than MSRP.

What state are you in?

$25,500 out the door is exactly the same price as mine...but I get no Navi.
