Third tank over 500mi

Third tank over 500mi
Pretty new to the site and Hybrid driving in general.
I am over 500 miles still have a couple of blips on the fuel gauge.
averaging 44.4 on tank all city driving. I have read the 600+ miles post.
Maybe on the 5th or 6th tank, with some highway driving I am confident I could pull it off.
May keep a 2.5 in the trunk just in case.
Anyway gotta love 500+ on less than 12 gals of fuel.
Now all we need is a big Diesel electric truck so I can ditch my Hemi powered tow rig.
Sorry it may not have been clear third tank of fuel in the car.

Re: Third tank over 500mi
Congrats - its nice to save trips to the station - i probably saved a few $ and calories not getting the concessions as frequently either!
It gets better, until it gets colder
Another HCH driver, Mr. Kite, is on his way to 900-1000+ mile tank!

Ya I think I could get close on this one, just don't want to push it. I have read where people get 80+ with no blips and I still have a couple left. But based on tank size I should need to get 50 to pull it off.

Re: Third tank over 500mi
Yeah, especially once you get the engine broken in (usually around 3000-5000mi).
Side note... a comfortable (for me) 600mi tank would require about 53mpg, and 700mi, 61mpg.

Big E AK,
Your doing well. Congrats. After 3k miles you'll do better. These cars are great. It's sad that Consumer Reports rates them so poorly. A quick look at the GH database shows that the car averages 10 mpg over how they rate the car. Also the mpg is much closer to the Prius than either the EPA or Consumer Reports rate it. Keep up the good work.

Re: Third tank over 500mi
No doubt! I had a sub-40 tank in January this year. I've got to keep my motivation and do better this winter.
I'm at 1,030.6 miles and 74.3 mpg. I'll be filling up and posting a pic tomorrow.

Re: Third tank over 500mi
Thanks for the encouragement.
So far on the 4th tank averaging 49.3 all in town driving Hoping to get 50 on trip A this tank. I also noticed that when I calculated the actual mileage it was a little higher than the gauge was telling me, is that normal? It was off almost 2MPG (on the low side) Which just made me feel that much better about how I was doing but seems odd the gauge would read low.
