I pulled into Best Buy the other day directly in front of another HCHII of the exact same color, so they can not be that rare down here. The fact is that the HCHII is still available in very limited supplies due to Honda only importing 28,000 this year according to my dealer. Judging from the 6-8 week waiting period at every dealer around here to get one, I would say that Honda seriously underestimated demand, or they are production constrained currently. The other factor that makes it more difficult to spot them is that they look exactly the same as a regular Civic at speed unless you know exactly what to look for, like the wheels. Head on I can not normally tell the difference at speed, and even from behind I look for the hybrid badge. The Prius is a very unique looking car, so I never miss one.

Check the mirrors. That's my trick.

I look for the top mount antenna. I believe the non-hybrid version does not have this.

Say, I was headed SOUTH on 288 this morning in a Galaxy Grey HCHII. I would have been near Angleton by 7:30 though. With no A/C, about 56mpg that time of day! Peter

P.S. You SHOULD be able to spot a HCH II because its going about 55 when everyone else is going 72...

hey peter-
I know what you mean. in the case of 288 traffic heading into downtown on a weekday morning, it's more like I'm the only one going 35 when everyone else is punching out 50. why they are in such a hurry to park behind the herd is beyond me...

doing 51mpg these days, but I still like to keep the climate control at 79-82.
