smaller wheels on a 2006 HCH II
Has anyone attempted to place smaller wheels on their HCHII?
I have gone to 17" package since I found a deal on them. I wish to improve my MPG by reducing rolling resistance and unsprung weight by 14" wheels and tires.
Thanks
Rich

You cannot put wheels smaller than the front brakes on the car. Anything you save in rim weight you will more than pay for in additional sidewall and tire weight. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time.
14" wheels allow using taller profile narrower contact patch tires leading to lower rolling resistance. I was curious if there were any wheels in 14" that clear the brakes?
Every economy car from the 80's- early 90's typically came with 13 or 14" wheel packages for the lower mass and rolling resistance. 14" is still a preferred sizing in some race classes for the selection of tires available. Both the early and late Insight came with 14" alloys in the wrong bolt pattern.
Has anyone tried smaller wheels? Is there a set which fit?
