RANT about IMA

Re: RANT about IMA
For the IMA technology to ever be effective on a larger car will require a larger battery. The battery that currently exist in the HCH is puny. Also, they need to figure out a better placement of the battery. i do miss the ability to have a flat surface through the trunk/rear seat area.
As to why Honda doesn't use light materials in other cars...It does, and will probably do more down the line. I know that Honda opted for an aluminum hood and trunk for the S2000 to reduce weight to give it a performance gain. If you look at the weight of any of the Honda vechicles, you will notice that the weight hasn't really gone up through the years COMPARED to what you are getting in return. With all the safety devices being installed, the weight can only go up but yet the overall weight remains the same. So they are reducing weight, it's just that we want more in a car.
I am actually suprised that we don't have hypermilers here that don't strip out everything in the car that isn't really needed for a single occupant vehicle. Reducing weight will gain far more MPG than any technique discussed on this board.

Re: RANT about IMA
talk about coincidence, Honda sent me a survey about my car and what I would like to see in a future model.
Of options listed in future model, these popped out:
- Bluetooth Integration
- iPod Integration
- More HP engine
- Traction Control
- Disc Brakes (4-W)
- AWD option
- Auto Wipers
- Auto Headlights
- Better Interior options ????
Just though i would share that with everyone

Re: RANT about IMA
IMA won't save the world, but it's a step in the right direction. I like my HCHII which replaced a 1990 Civic. I choose the HCHII over the Prius for a number of reasons (listed in the thread on that topic).
It would be nice if the HCHII had a larger battery and electric motor and a fold down rear seat. As others have said, no car is perfect or perfect for everyone.
I'd really like a series hybrid with a plug-in option! But there isn't such a vehicle available today.

Re: RANT about IMA
If people walk in the rain they get wet.
Raincoats help and so do umbrellas.
Why don't they make an umbrella built into a raincoat.
It would save time, and reduce wetness, wouldn't it?
Oh, how can they sell raincoats without umbrellas?
How can they sill umbrellas without raincoats?
Oh, cruel world.

Re: RANT about IMA
I was saying Hybridization was a good track for larger vehicles.
And it could offer larger vehicles more gain % wise than small cars.
I was not talking about Honda's IMA specifically.
But Ops! This is a "Honda" thread.
