The HCH (both models) seems to suffer more than others from higher speeds, meaning 75-80 MPH, so traveling at those speeds should be avoided if possible.

Thanks, Coyote. I guess I was going at a decent speed for good fuel economy. With these darn rolling hills though...I can't seem to get over 47-48 mpg. But my Civic isn't even close to being broken in yet. Only have bout 800 miles on it so far.

Re: Normal driver MPGs
Be patient byebyegaspumps. My mileage went from 43, 44, 48.5 and now indicating over 53 average mpg on the fourth tank of gas. Some of that is car break in and some of that is driver break in.

OK, it doesn't say so on the Bridgestone site (unless I missed it), nor did my tire dealer mention it . . . but they work fine!

Re: Normal driver MPGs
i've owned my 06hch2 for one week today. after ~190 miles, my overall fe with mostly stop-and-go driving is 41mpg, but its been improving everyday as my skill improves. learning curve. tarabell's article is required reading for this course.

Stop and go is the MPG killer. The tighter the traffic, and the more you have to stop and reaccelerate, the worse your FE will be. I've had times where I was on a 52MPG tank at around 470 miles, and the last 40 miles were HEAVY traffic jam conditions, and it dropped me all the way to 48MPG for the tank. Nothing I could do.
I seem to have stabilized on my FE. For everyday driving, with a good mix of city and highway, I average between 47-49 MPG, and for long highway trips, I get about 51-54.
