New Radio Options
I wanted to start a poll mainly for the purpose of who would like to have HD or Sirius Radio integrated into the Honda's Non-Navigational and Navigational Units.
I am coming up on at the end of my three month subscription for XM Radio.
I have decided not to subscribe for additional months because I am not in my car for extended periods of time.
I have seen the new external HD Radios tuners at Best Buy but then don't want to have something sticking to my windshield or sitting in the storage bay. It would be nice to pay a little more an have it integrated into the Head Unit of my navi unit though. Even better would be if Honda could issue a trade in value of the XM tuner for credit toward a HD tuner...
What do you think?
What would you like to see in your Honda Civic if you had to do it again?

None of the above?
Would be nice to see XM capacity added into an Ipod type mobil unit. Wireless ability to function with the cars stereo similar to what Ford is working on with the Sync.

Re: New Radio Options
Microsoft might have this technology out for other car makers soon depending on how the partnership agreement is written for Ford at the moment. At this point in time we are using Microsoft's older automotive OS (Navigational equipped units only)Windows CE for Automotive. That's not a bad thing. Actually Microsoft has done a great job with that OS. It has been around for at least 10 years now Development started in late 90's.
Once all the bugs have been ironed out, we could see Sync in future Honda soon.

Re: New Radio Options
Kenny,
We are not talking about replacing the OEM radio with an aftermarket radio. Honda offers for non-navigation based radios an XM tuner. For the Navigation based radio, an XM tuner is included.

Re: New Radio Options
I understand.
I'm just voicing one opinion.
I like what it came with.
I'd never spend one penny for something else *especially* one of those new ideas that require a monthly service fee.
It is like movie theater popcorn.
I'd feel too much like a sucker buying it.
That said, to each his own.
Just one opinion.

Re: New Radio Options
For myself, just a better stock speaker system would do it for me.
I really like the mp3 capability of the cd player. I can listen to a 20 hour audio book on one disk.
And the AUX input jack lets me plug in my own mp3 player when I want.
So just give me better sound quality, and I'll be happy.

46jimbo,
I don't know what kind of audiobooks you listen to, but I listen to a bunch of different music styles.
I installed the Honda Bass Speaker Kit into my Civic two weeks ago and I really enjoy the renewed sound coming from the OEM head unit. I really missed having really low lows that were part of more premium branded cars. Now, especially today, I was listen to Gustav Mahler and it was fantastic!!!
The upgrade is about $400.00. Or you could purchase the kit from Majestic Honda's website for about $300.00. I have the semi-complete installation of the bass kit on my website www.abittans.com under automotive.

I'm not really hot for any subscription service access; I'm pretty happy with the Mp3 input, CD player, and radio.
