Need to replace garbage Dunlop tires after 25,000 on 09 -- Recommendations?
My 2009 Civic Hybrid's last service call was a killer. Transmission fluid, oil change, and the shocker of "you need new tires". I can't see replacing the tires every 25,000 miles as a good investment. Can someone recommend some decent (and easily found) replacement tires, preferably ones that won't kill my budget and will last more than two years. I've seen the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires for the same price Honda quoted me for the OEM junk.

Hmmmm. I have an '06 HCH2 which had OEM Dunlops. They lasted just over 40,000 miles, and I now have a second set of the same - takeoffs, with OEM wheels, on eBay for about $500 delivered to my door.
It did help when I had the rear control arm TSB update done.
That said, when the current Dunlops wear out - if I still have the car - I'll move to the Michelins - like all our other cars.
I do drive "gently". FE benefits as well.
Cheers.

I replaced my Dunlops on my 2007 HCHII at about 25k with Kumo Kr21's great tire
I did not see any MPG hit...I am now at about 78.5K with the Kumo's and still going strong. They are a much better tire in the rain and snow, the Dunlops were scary. I would get these again

I studied almost all the LRR tires, and settled on GY Assurance. I've got about 10k on them now and love them. Best buy for the buck too.

I went with the same tire John. My FE improved from day one. I prefer them over the Michelin Hydro Edge. Very quiet and handle very well. 51 lbs max cold setting and H89 wear. Pretty hard to find much better. First time I have liked G/Y's product. H

hi all,
after perusing the tire reviews on the Tire Rack website (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=121), I was all set to by the Michelin Energy Saver A/S. I even ordered them for delivery from Tire Rack (based on some local comparison shopping), only to discover that they are completely out of stock (P195/65-R15 89S)-- same with the local tire shops and Costco. Tire Rack says that Michelin has not told them when more will be produced, but it's been over 2 months! Weird. Anyone else run into this problem?

That would likely be my tire of choice, as well. Sometimes an extended out-of-stock situation is indicative of a pending new design release. Maybe try calling Michelin's US-based HQ for more information?

It was my tire choice as well until I road in a friends car with Fuel Max! These tires are something else. Hydro edge[equal to energy savers] and [Dunlap LRR] are not in the same playing field in my estimation! I loved my Michelin and did not care for G/Y. The Fuel Max. roll like you won't believe and you can guess what that means! H

thanks for the feedback, guys. Yeah, I stared at the G/Y as an alternative; I've read mediocre reports about the Bridgeport Ecopias on other threads. If Michelin doesn't get their act together soon, the Fuel Max make sense. Glad to hear that they roll well!
