I ordered the block heater from cheap honda parts and saved $11. Then I had my dealer put it in.

Re: Matt's hch2 blog
Matt - I thought I would let you see my trips and mpg numbers for comparison. I do a good bit of driving every day with some days as 90% highway, other days as 50% highway, some days in nothing but rain with the defrost. Anyway, here are the numbers from after the first week of owning up to this past weekend. I only included work days though not every day was logged.
Total miles on the car right now are 11,600 miles after 10.25 weeks with the first oil change at 7,950 miles.

Re: Matt's hch2 blog
wow darren, you do drive a lot. as you can see, i make mostly short trips (between clients), and i have to account for that mileage to my employer, so i thought i'd keep track of the fe alongside the mileage and document it here in this thread. at this point, i'm using odo "a" for trips btwn clients, and odo "b" for tank totals.
your trend is clearly one of increasing fe over the past two months, which is certainly something i hope to see with mine over time.
i'm not a math guy. do you know how i can convert my trip data to daily and weekly averages?

10mi @ 50mpg
20mi @ 45mpg
5mi @ 60mpg (woot for downhill!)
20mi @ 30mpg (what comes down eventually goes back up)
Take each of those segments and divide miles driven by mpg (0.20, 0.44, 0.08, 0.67, respectively) to see how much gas you consumed. Add up the miles and the gas (55 miles, 1.39 gallons), then divide miles per gallons to get your total mpg for the trip (39.57mpg... going uphill is teh suck!)
