I'm a rookie and need input
I just sold an 03 caddy cts to buy a 08 hch, both w/navi. So far I love it cause I drive 40mi each way to work. Now I want to learn about my car. I keep reading about "tarrbel's"? articles, where are they, anyone know what Im talking about? I dont expect to have the patience to be a "hypermiler"(?) but would obv. like to max my FE, any suggestions other than dont pound the gas/brakes, and drive slow?

Hi Matt;
This is a the link to Tarabel's article.
Even though there's a clear emphasis on hypermiling, you definitely do not need to implement all the advice contained in the article to benefit from the potential fuel economy the car offers.
First and foremost, I consider the article as the "get-to-know-and-understand-your-car" document that Honda should have included with the car. Once you understand what it can do, then it is still your decision to follow through.

Re: I'm a rookie and need input
Matt;
The Civic Hybrid II or HCH-II is the second generation (2006-2010) Civic Hybrid which is equipped with 4th generation Honda IMA system. The first Generation covered the 2003-2005 model years and was eqipped with the 2nd generation Honda IMA.
The IMA system in the Civic Hybrid was not designed to propel the car with electric only as it is done in the Toyota Prius. Instead, many of us make careful and strategic use the electric only mode to extend the glides instead. Under such a scenario it is possible to run on the battery for several miles.
