Exclamation Headlights control on the HCHII

Hi all,
I just bought a 08 HCHII, w00t! Great forum you have here, I've been reading alot and learning about the HCH (Oil change at 8000 mi??! )

My family also have an 06 Rav4 and although it does not have automatic headlights (like the Corolla), I can turn it off with the key remote with just an extra click once I'm outside the car. The HCHII won't do that except bong-bong-bonging to let me know I have to manually turn the ****. Minor gripe but I still wish it could. I did some research and found the 'DEI 545T' which basically senses light and turn the headlights on/off automatically. It's been installed in the regular civics but I haven't heard anything with the hybrid. I also have no clue as to how to install it. Anyone know of something different? Thanks for your help!

I haven't heard of anyone installing that type of thing in their hybrid either. Most systems that don't involve the engine or its components that work with the Civic will work with the HCH. You may want to try 8thcivic.com, but I don't remember anyone there doing automatic headlights either. Do you have a link to that product you mentioned?

It's called DEI 545T Nite-lite. Heres a link to a place that sells it for $42: http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/545T.html
You can also find it on fleaBay for $35 + 10 S/H.

Apparently it's been installed in a lot of other makes and models as well. I'm still scared to try it, my baby's only 1 week old .

I have sent an email to the company you listed above. I am curious about this device myself. If they send me the instruction manual and after I review it, I might purchase it and install it. If I do, I will do a write up with step by step guide to install it in a Civic

Thanks

I got the instruction manual from the dealer. It looks like it could be easy to install. I will try to order it. But I don't have a timeline on when.

Thank you,

Does it use it's own daylight sensor or the sunlight sensor built into the car? I would think it uses it's own, but it'd be nice if it could take advantage of the one we already have.

It comes with a photocell sensor. You can also choose to wire which features you want and which you don't. Also, the light **** can override it I believe (works only when **** is in the OFF position). Here are what I found that it does:
Automatic headlight activation system
Trigger by Electronic Photo-Cell
Automatically sense darkness
Automatically activated when windshield Wipers activated
Daylight Running Lamps feature for additional safety
Adjustable Turn-Off Delay feature
Can be optionally used for alarm trigger
Include Module, Photo-Cell, Relays, By-Pass Switch and Harnesses

Arbittan if you haven't ordered it, I found it on Amazon for cheaper ($33 shipped): http://www.amazon.com/Directed-Elect.../dp/B000CJ24YY

Let us know how it goes! Thanks.
