HCF-2 fluid, do or not do? Old vs new HMMF fluid
I went to dealer and just bought the Hmmf CVT over the HCF2, They say dont mix, but has anyone here done that? It is signifigantly more expensive, and they say dont mix, but what would happen anyway?
In the HMMF fluid I bought, the new fluid was a light clear brown, but the old bottle was a redish pink color and said nothing about mixing with HCF-2, so I can only assume its that old of a bottle. Did I make a mistake mixing the old and new fluids?
I noticed there is both a high and low resouive drain plug, and I only drained the low one, has anyone done both? The other is kind of hard to get to since its directly in front of the frame bar, but I think it can be done. I will try next change.

Use only Honda CVT fluid. My local dealer sells it for about $10/qt.
If you haven't been using Honda CVT fluid, that's likely the issue with your clutch behavior.
Buy 9 qts and plan for a 3 change flush.

well to be honest Ive only been doing honda fluid
curiously amsoil fluid is actually cheaper and rated for HMMF and HCF-2.
Im just curious, is there any benefit to flushing, mixing or using HCF-2? Its supposed to be for the newer generation model. But they say dont mix, or use it in older generation models.

The overwhelming opinion of the Honda CVT community is to only use Honda CVT fluid. It was literally designed for that transmission as they originally used their ATF fluid to mixed results.
You'll never see me put anything Amsoil in a vehicle.

I cant get the original HCF at my dealer so I had to use the HCF 2. ANyone had this issue yet? Im concerned and want to switch back to the red stuff just in case.
Im in Canada and will try other dealers as I can't order online. Also, FYI they charge almost 20$ for the new HCF-2 which is yellow.

Does it say this on the back of the HCF-2 bottle?
"...failure to use the specified transmission fluid may damage the transmission. CVT fluid and HCF-2 are not compatible and should not be mixed or substituted for each other..."

I wouldn't drive the car again until you can do 3 consecutive fluid changes (you need to buy 9 qt now).
You have 3 qt of HCF-2 and about 2.4 qt of CVT in there.

Thanks for the advice and info Keith.
Ugh.
I had just gotten through 3 changes in the past year. Ill start over.
Found another dealer in town and bought 9 quarts. Not cheap here... but same as having them do a drain and fill (150!!) wow.
How long would you recommend driving/running between drain and fills.
A day? an hour? a week?
