I have 4,500 miles on the GY FuelMax tires.
My FE has not returned to normal, still about 40-41MPG vs 44-45.
I can notice significant "resistence" to keep rolling and increase the gren bars when I let off the gas.
I put PSI up to 44 at all 4 corners. Max PSI is 51 HEATED, so going much beyond 44 is risky and potentially reduces tire life considerably (center tread wear out).
Needless to say I am not pleased about FE.
I used to see periods of driving at 50-60MPG, but since the new tires I have never seen that range again.
Handling, grip, confidence all greatly improved though. Huge noise reduction too.
If you can live with lower FE, then these are good tires for the benefits above.

Next time get Michelin Pilot Exhalto tires. My mileage has been up 10% after installing them over 30K miles ago, and they have only used up half the tread.

I have had my GY FuelMax tires on for a couple of weeks now, and I would say that my mileage has dropped off some. ..but better than the ComfortTreads I put on there first.
I think you summed it up very well...much better grip, lower noise, but unfortunately with a bit lower FE. Maybe it will get better as they wear.

Update - GY replaced the Triple Treds with the Fuel Max. They gave us $80/tire towards the new ones so at least that lowered the cost to "reasonable". $274 later we have the new tires on it and will see how it goes from here. There is NO WAY FE can be any less than the Fortera's. The prior Integrity's provided 26MPG. The Fortera's were basically 25MPG. We are hoping the Fuel Max will get us back over 26MPG once again.

Ive had the tires for 3 days now, Im noticing a much smoother and QUIETER ride than my OEM Michelins. Too difficult to determine the MPG hit. I am noticing that my rpms are slightly higher than usual. Instead of 1200 they up near 1400 when i reach slower cruising speeds under 40mph. Im still able to get my iMPG meter in the 60-70 range.
Seems like there is more of an effort to keep speed. but thats the tradeoff. better traction is worth it.

Thanks for the update. You know, considering the the TireRack review, and the various testimonials such as yours, I'd say Goodyear's name choice for this tire borders on deception. It has so-so rolling resistance, not bad, but not terrific, and not as good as some run-of-mill OEM's.

These Assurance Fuel Max tires performed well in the snow (about 6 inches) on our 06 Highlander Hybrid during a recent ski trip. The sidewalls are quite soft however and require a bit more "attention" when taking those big mountain curves (dry on the way up and snow on the way back 4 days later).

The Nov edition of Consumer Reports gave a relatively low rating for the Assurance Fuel Max. It scored high on low rolling resistant but received a negative rating on tread wear. Michelin Primacy MXV4 received the highest score in the same category as the Fuel Max with an excellent rating in tread wear and a higher than average rating for rolling resistance.
Looks like these tires have just been released by Goodyear. My local tire place can order them now for $109 (CDN) installed and balanced.
Has anyone read anything about these tires? I am thinking about trying these out.

Kind of a follow up from my previous post where I commented I was running 50 psi, I've lowered my pressure to 41 front and 37 rear. Not much difference in FE for me in this weather...but more comfy for my wife (and me too, if truth be told!). Cruising gently around town I am getting 45 to 47 mpg. Haven't taken any trips since temps have dropped. Tires are certainly not for the folks trying to squeeze every mile possible from a gallon of gas, but they are certainly better than OE and are satisfying me. I have 'bout 9000 miles on mine now.
