getting to be time for a cvt trannie oil change
I am a big fan of the "topsider" fluid changes. I'm curious, has anyone done a cvt fluid change from the top instead of the drain plug? Is there any interference in the trannie that would keep you from getting the 3 quarts out?
Thanks

Re: getting to be time for a cvt trannie oil change
Why do it wrong - I changed out the fluid on my 2007 Civic Hybrid and it was not hard to drain it. I did have a Harbor Freight 4ft cheater bar to break the drain plug free.
The Honda cvt Fluid was less than $7 qt ( get 4 quarts ) and one 30 cent crush washer.
It took longer to get the civic up on the jack stands to work under it than to drain and put back the drain plug. ( dang low clearances on the HCHII keeps me from using the truck ramps I own ).
Mine needed 3.2 quarts to get the dipstick to meet the 60 seconds after warm shutdown to be between the fluid low and full.
Do Not Overfill.

Just changed mine per the maintenance minder and it was simple. Drove it up on the Rhino Ramps and removed the under carriage. The tranny drain bolt wasn't difficult to remove (no breaker bar needed). I let it drain and then filled. After that, I drove around for a few miles and did a second drain and fill. I stopped at two drains and fills because the CVT fluid was coming out pretty clear on the second drain. Also, used new washer. Basically, it was pretty easy to do it the old fashion way and it took less than 7 qts of CVT fluid.
