If I went to a tax place to do my taxes instead, would they be able to process my tax credit or is this slowdown being caused by the IRS and therefore causing all of these programs to need an update?

Hmmm....so far I have went through TurboTax and I am not getting the credit. We don't even fall under the AMT. I am going to give them a call before I start getting really ticked off about not getting it. Hopefully I am just missing something.

Katerina, I think it depends on what your purchase date was for your Prius, since the credit is getting phased out for that car model. Click on the link below, and scroll down to Toyota Prius to check on the credit phaseout information:

If you are doing your taxes yourself, you can get the form here:

One more thing to keep in mind if you are doing your taxes on tax software this year. Are you using your hybrid for business as well as pleasure? If you answer "yes" to that question, you will still get the credit, but it will be split on your forms. A portion will show up as your tax credit (that's the portion you indicate as "personal use"). A portion will show up as a business expense/rebate. It will still add up to $2100 (for those of you who bought a new HCH in 07), but you won't see it where you might expect it to be. Therefore, those of you who don't think you're getting the $2100 should check out the business expense end of your return, just in case.

Congress says that a $600 check for each of us will stimulate the economy.

Imagine how the extra $2,100 we're getting will boost the GDP!

We're all patriots for buying hybrids!

I say that a $600 check to each of us will make the country lose money. But what do I know...

The form has been available for a few weeks now. I know as I just checked by bank account and my federal tax refund was received last night!
