Rancho Santa Fe Security (the main security response company, and hub for all police, fire, EMS, and lifeguard calls in my area) has a huge fleet of HCHs (I and II).

In Santa Monica (especially) the Priiiii are a status symbol for the "wealthy-but-don't-want-to-show-it-off" crowd. Also a symbol for the anti-war-eco-green drive my prius to the bus stop to take me to the farmers market.
Ok just kidding! I heart prius almost as much as HCH!
thats why i drive a HCHII!!!!

The majority of HCH's I see are the II's wearing the yellowcab paint. Makes me kind of sad to drive a car that people will associate with a taxi

The style of a HCHII is
Understated. The Civic has just a small number of purpose-built styling cues that defines it as a Hybrid. I like that in a car.
A Prius on the other hand, is like having a car with 22" spinners on it. Both have an eclectic and unique take on Style (in a sort of screaming "look at me" way), and target those who feel that they are the epitome of discerning taste.

Went for lunch today and in about 5 mins of drive, I saw 4 Priuses. I am not in Santa Monica either, but near San Dimas, CA.
Oh...one of the Priuses' I was behind, had a sticker : "I don't Idle!...drive a Hybrid".
That was funny.

Sadly, HCH-II's have not been approved for taxi service in my side of the country... mainly because of its "below regulation" small trunk space. Also on the same token neither has the Camry hybrid which also has a trunk as small as the HCH-II.
On the other hand, you go for a 10 mile trip around the city and most of the taxis you'll see are Prius II. Some of the local taxi companies have literally hundreds of Prius II units on their fleet and the numbers just keep growing and growing.
Times are changing and even the die hard pickup hillbillies around these parts can no longer insult hybrids as they used to, since even they will be forced to learn something new when they take a ride in one. Sweet indeed.
