I have an '07 HCH and I have noticed that the auto off kicks in at red lights, then when I do the creep forward and stop again, it won't kick back off. I don't use the A/C -- sometimes the auto temp -- and my battery charge is usually within the top 3 bars. =\

 

Not saying this is how they all work, but the pattern with mine seems to be two shut-offs and then it stays running. So I can roll into a light and autostop, then restart to roll forward once and autostop again, but if I restart and roll again, it won't autostop again until the car has hit a min. of 7 mph again to "reset" the cycle.
