Did the SW recall update affect your fuel consumption?
Now that my 2008 HCH has several tankfulls under it's "belt" since the update (more than 12,000km and 17 fillups), I am tempted to post a quick analysis of the car's fuel consumption since the update, compared to before.
I got the update around mid-October last year so I wanted to compare "apples with apples", especially since the weather here in Canada is very different between summer and winter!
So here is how I decided to come up with some figures that could be compared and that would reasonably make sense and would eliminate as many uncontrollable parameters as I could.
I bought my car new in July 2008 and I've driven it in similar conditions ever since and I've been the only driver 99.9% of the time.
Since I got the update around mid-October, I calculated the average fuel consumption since the first tankful after the update until now. I then calculated for the same periods of the year for all previous years since I've owned the car.
Here are the numbers:
2010/10/23 - 2011/04/13: 17 fillups, 12167km, 5.25l/100km
2009/10/23 - 2010/04/16: 16 fillups, 11699km, 5.01l/100km
2008/10/19 - 2009/04/10: 19 fillups, 12188km, 5.28l/100km
So I think I can be fairly confident when saying that it did not affect my fuel consumption.
Do you have some numbers of your own to show? How did it affect your fuel consumption?
