Smile Click/clunk noise

Hello,
I am new to the HCH so I am asking this question....when ever I put the ignition on I hear a click or more like a clunk noise and when I put the ignition off I hear the noise again. I think this is the fuel pump coming on and off but it is really loud. I spoke to the SA at the dealer and he said that this is normal. Something about the torque converter. I don't believe he knows what he is saying but then again I am also ignorant. Can anyone shed some light on what I am experiencing. Thanks
Cheers

I don't hear that, but then my hearing is not the best! Hal

I don't think we have a torque converter on the CVT do we?

I don't hear anything whenever I start it. That's one of the things I love about this car, turn the key and it comes to life, quietly.

you don't hear a click/clunk noise before you start with the ignition just on and all lights on dash illuminated? I thought this is the electric fuel pump coming to life but I could be wrong. On other cars I have owned I hear this sound but not as loud. Because of the loudness I am thinking that my fuel pump is dying and would like to take it in to the dealer as it is still under warranty.

Now that you specified not turning it all the way on...I think I know what you're speaking of. I'll have to check it out tomorrow. I do recall hearing what sounds like a whirring sound when I turn the key to illuminate the lights.

I'll let you know tomorrow.

There's a subtle thump. But it's so minimal, I would never have thought twice about it.

Yes...thats it, a slight thump. I guess that's normal since you also heard it. Thanks.
