Civic Hybrid II Taxicab!
I was driving my 2006 Mag Pearl, Timothy Three Tone home from the Lake Compounce Amusement Park on Monday. Saw the cab headed south on I-91 in Connecticut. Taxicab yellow, a 2006 or 2007. Not sure which cab company.
YellowCab has been running HCH 2 hybrids for almost a year now in Connecticut, since they first were available. I think when we decided on the honda before they came out the dealership in manchester told us YellowCab had ordered the first 60 of the cars available in the state. Almost the same except some of them seem to have the XM antenna off to one side rather than centered on the upper rear. Nice to see CT jump ahead on something
In my province, applications by fleet operators to use HCH-II as taxis were rejected solely because the trunk is too small. The minimum trunk size for a Taxi vehicle is 13 cubic feet, and the HCH-II has only 10 cu feet.
Not surprisingly, the Camry Hybrid (10 cu feet) and the Nissan Altima hybrid (9 cu feet), also cannot enter use as taxis either. For the moment only the Prius and Ford Escape hybrids have been added to the fleets.
