Best tank yet
About 8,000 miles into owning my '08 and averaged 54.6 for my latest tank. (using the more accurate miles driven divided by gallons to fill tank method).
Got me curious about what everyone's best mpg for a tank was? Sorry if this is a common topic.

Re: Best tank yet
55.22 - last tank - able to achieve this after reading about hyper mileing techniques. Previously the best was 46.6, and 44 to 46 was very consistent.
Initially the car got between 44 and 46 . . . until around 25000 miles when I replaced the tires with a non low rolling resistance set of shoes. The mileage then dropped to about 40 to 42 . . . and by 50000 miles the average creeped back up to 44 to 46. I think that the engine was better broken in at 50000 miles.
I am going to put the Michlein or Brigstone LRR tires on soon and I am thinking I will get back about 4mpg - the amount I lost when I put the non LRR tires on previously.
My target after the tires is 60mpg

Re: Best tank yet
I've loved my '08 that I bought in January. As the weather warms my mileage is improving. My last two tanks have been 60.25 and 59.5 (well over 600 miles on each tank). I couldn't be happier with it if it printed money.
