Default Autostop Tip

If for some reason the autostop doesn't engage while at a complete stop. Try pressing the brake pedal ALL THE WAY DOWN after it's apparent that the auto stop won't kick in. Sometimes the auto stop will engage, where it didn't if the brake pedal just had normal pressure on it during a stop.

Moosh is right!

This has been my experience also. When I'm stuck in traffic, and I'm able to inch forward from autostop, the car will go back to autostop if I depress the brake ALL THE WAY and hold it.

question, since the hch allows you to creep like a normal automatic with a torque converter, does your mpg meter drop when you just let go of the brake? or does IMA ASSIST helps you creep forward before actually injecting gas into the engine?

Good question, Phil. I really had to think on this one. (or maybe it's just because I haven't had my morning coffee yet.) When you let your foot off the brake the ICE starts up and the iFCD is at zero. When you depress the gas pedal the IMA assist kicks in to help the ICE get the car up to speed. The Tarabell and PCK have been trying to get their cars to use the IMA alone with some success, but I have not as of yet. So, whenever I let up on the brake and begin to move forward the displayed mpg drops. Depending on the situation and how quickly I need to get up to speed the iFCD is usually around 15-25mpg during initial acceleration.
