I also did some highway driving yesterday, but unable to figure it out. Traffic was calm on I-90 yesterday and drove at 60mph. the iFCD (is that what it's called?) Would not go above 30 even on flat ground. It felt like the EV assist was butting in too much, draining the battery incredibly fast. I lost 6 bars after accelerating from the on ramp to 60 mph.
That sounds like a problem. You shouldn't lose that many pips on your battery charge status meter just speeding up to 60. Talk to your dealership.

If it's draining fast it may be spending a lot of time in forced charge mode, and I'm guessing that's not helpful to the MPG.

From someone who was frustrated with 40mpg, I know how you felt. But I read the wonderful tarabell's hypermiler bible also and have found joy and bliss at 50-52mpg now. The two things that worked best for me are watching the mpg readout and keeping the rpm's under 2000. It really made a difference. Mike

30 one way and >60 the other? sounds like either a real bad head wind or your commute is uphill/downhill.

You should be able to set your CC at 60 and get about 60mpg - unless you are using AC - then you will be closder to 50mph.

I think I found my problem. I feel a little embarrassed. What I thought to be a flat stretch of highway turned out to be up a slight incline which explains the ifcd. The reason I was losing all my battery power was because of the on ramp I was taking. It was a steep on ramp that you need to use max assist to get into traffic.

I am still a little perplexed. I still don't get good mileage on the highway. Using the mountain where I live I can get 60mpg in the city . But even on flat portions of the HW my rev's don't go below 2,100. I went on a trip from Seattle to Olympia, and was able to hit 50mpg HW going 65mph at 1900 rpm. I haven't been able to emulate that ever again.
