Acceleration Sounds

I have an '06 and it makes a loud whirring sound when I accelerate. One friend driving in the car next to me said that my car sounded like a space ship taking off. Is this a normal sound? It is kind of loud...

Take off the lead shoe :p That electric whirring spaceship noise is normal (but only if you're revving at 3000+ rpm)
